This summer, members of the City College and Colin Powell School’s team took part in the CUNY Leadership Institute, a two-day gathering focused on the Constructive Dialogue Initiative. In preparation for the event, campus point person Bobby Derival conducted outreach with students, staff, and faculty to assess existing goals, levels of buy-in, and expertise around the topic — resulting in a campus-specific asset map used to guide planning and reflection on how to advance constructive dialogue in higher education.
During the meeting, participants deepened their understanding of the role of constructive dialogue in higher education, how it can serve as a tool for advancing CUNY’s mission, explored leadership frameworks for managing complex change, and collaborated with peers across the system to develop campus-specific strategies for embedding dialogue into institutional culture.
