Colin Powell School Alumna Wendy Ilhama ‘22 Represents Canada at the UN

By: Colin Powell School

Wendy Ihama ’22, a graduate of the Colin Powell School’s International and Global Studies program, recently represented Canada as part of the Official Canadian Delegation to the UN High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2025 in New York City.

Currently serving as a Policy Analyst for the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation, Ihama is building an impressive career at the intersection of policy, culture, and international engagement.

This year’s HLPF carried the theme: “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals—leaving no one behind.” The forum convened more than 100 ministerial and high-level government representatives alongside a diverse range of experts and stakeholders. Among them were heads of UN entities, academics, NGO leaders, and more than 800 representatives of major groups with ECOSOC status—including 300 youth voices from around the globe.

Ihama’s role at the forum highlights not only her own professional achievements but also the Powell School’s commitment to preparing graduates who go on to make a meaningful impact on pressing global challenges.
