Public Service Career Hub and United Nations Foundation Launch Second Cohort of Interns

By: Colin Powell School

The Public Service Career Hub has once again partnered with the United Nations Foundation (UNF) to support a second cohort of interns thanks to the continued efforts of Powell School alumnus Camden Malone. Five students from the Master in International Affairs (MIA) program will be working with the Foundation in focus areas that include Future Generations, UN Affairs, Peace and Security, and Sustainable Development Initiatives.

  • Saki Tanjo: passionate about supporting people at the intersection of financial difficulties and global health crises, Saki recently completed a summer internship at Could You?, a nonprofit organization advocating for women’s health.
  • Prince Yamba Munya: Born and raised in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, he had a front-row seat to the horrors and tragedy of war. This first-hand experience led Prince to pursuing a career in international relations. He migrated to the United States at the age of 12 along with his parents and siblings. As a motivated young scholar, Prince is hoping to learn “how the UN system functions with the various bodies that make up the institution. Specifically within that, I want to learn how negotiations between countries unfolds, especially relating to SDGs.”
  • Taitu Scott: With academic experience in peacekeeping, diplomacy, and global governance, Taitu is passionate about advancing the United Nations’ mission in peace and security, sustainable development, and youth engagement. By interning with the United Nations Foundation, Taitu aims to expand her interest in international cooperation and contribute to developing more equitable and sustainable global solutions.
  • Jonibek Oblokulov: Jonibek is passionate about the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and believes that the work of the United Nations is crucial today because many current conflicts require exceptionally sophisticated diplomatic skills and mutual understanding. From this internship, Jonibek hopes to enhance his negotiation skills and learn more about peace building during these challenging times.
  • Monitaa G Chhetry: Originally from Nepal, she holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and has nearly a decade of experience advocating for human rights with the New York City Commission on Human Rights, where she worked to protect vulnerable and marginalized communities. In 2025, she was selected as a UNA-NYC Summer Fellow with the UNDP Sustainable and Inclusive Growth Unit in New Delhi, India. Monitaa’s academic and professional interests focus on the Sustainable Development Goals, human rights, and peace and security.

The partnership, now in its second year, offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of policy, advocacy, and global collaboration. Members of the new cohort are already participating in events around the United Nations General Assembly, broadening their understanding of multilateral processes and global governance.

Building on the program’s early success, Fatoumata Touré, a member of the first UNF internship cohort, has since taken on a new role as an intern at the Mission of the Republic of Guinea to the United Nations.
