Professor Luca Falciola Joins Panel with Kerry Kennedy in Commemoration of Robert F. Kennedy Centenary

By: Colin Powell School

Luca Falciola, assistant professor of Political Science at the Colin Powell School, participated in a December ceremony at the Italian Consulate in New York marking the unveiling of a commemorative Italian postage stamp honoring Robert F. Kennedy on the centenary of his birth.

The event, which also featured RFK’s daughter Kerry Kennedy and legendary photojournalist Harry Benson, included a roundtable discussion where Falciola contributed historical context and reflections on Kennedy’s enduring political legacy and influence in Italy.

According to La Voce di New York, Italy’s Consul General Fabrizio Di Michele hosted the gathering on Park Avenue as the final official event of his four-year mandate. The stamp was issued by Italy’s Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy in collaboration with Poste Italiane.

Kennedy, 66, is president of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights and a longtime human rights activist. Benson, 96, is a Scottish photojournalist who chronicled iconic moments of the twentieth century, including following the Beatles in the United States and documenting the Kennedy family during and after their presidency. One of Benson’s portraits of Robert F. Kennedy was selected as the image featured on the Italian stamp.

Falciola was joined in the discussion by Federico Moro, secretary general of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Italy. Together, they explored RFK’s political legacy and his impact in Italy—an influence significant enough to earn him official recognition through a national postage stamp.
