On August 26, the Colin Powell School hosted more 550 freshmen and transfer students for New Student Orientation, marking the school’s largest orientation gathering since its founding. Incoming students were introduced to key campus resources, including the Office of Student Success and the Office of Academic Advising, two essential units dedicated to guiding students through their daily academic responsibilities and professional development opportunities. Dean Marc Ostfield and other members of the School’s leadership team encouraged attendees to actively engage with the campus community.
“You have the power to shape your time here,” said Ostfield. “That means asking questions, seeking out resources, and saying yes when something sparks your interest.”
The orientation also featured a dedicated family session designed to provide parents with clear guidance on credit accumulation, financial aid, and academic expectations. Following the formal program, more than 250 students visited the Colin Powell School tabling session to connect directly with advisors and explore opportunities for specialized programs, competitive fellowships, and financial aid support.
