The Department of Political Science offers a diverse range of courses that will help students understand the world of politics, law, and government. We explore where political power lies, how it operates and whose interests it serves. We also examine the meaning of such illusive concepts as justice, freedom, democracy, equality, and rights. In doing so we investigate all political institutions: government bodies, courts and legal systems, bureaucracies, political parties, mass media, international conflict and cooperation, and social/political movements.
A Political Science degree can lead to careers in public administration, law, mass communication, legislative staff, non-profit and non-governmental organizations, business, international organizations, the foreign service (diplomacy), campaign management, and political consultant.
