Faculty in Fellowship: Building Connection and Collaboration

By: Colin Powell School

The Colin Powell School recently hosted its first Faculty in Fellowship luncheon, a gathering designed to strengthen relationships among faculty, staff, and advisors in their collective efforts to help students achieve their goals both during college and beyond. The event aims to create time and space for colleagues to connect, share ideas, and work more seamlessly together in support of students.

As part of the program’s focus on professional development, the School introduced a new Class Speaker Roster featuring a growing list of more than 35 leaders across industries who are available to visit classrooms and share their experiences about navigating professional paths and their journeys as leaders of color, immigrants, and first-generation professionals.

Faculty also learned about opportunities to participate in Perspectives, a three-hour online module from the Constructive Dialogue Institute, open to all adjunct instructors and designed to support inclusive dialogue and pluralism in the classroom. Office of Student Success and Advising staff also shared updates on current co-curricular and academic support programs, including information about the CUNY Career Success Fellows initiative.
