This event will include special guests including New York State Assemblymember Karines Reyes and organizers with the CUNY Rising Alliance and New York Public Interest Research Group.

Karines Reyes, Assemblymember of the 87th District, has been a Bronxite for nearly 20 years. Born in the neighborhood of Los Minas, Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic, she identifies as an Afro-Latina. In addition to serving in Albany, she is a registered nurse, union representative, activist, volunteer, and mother. She is a two-time CUNY graduate and the prime sponsor in the Assembly for the “New Deal for CUNY” bill.
Labiba Chowdhury is an undergraduate student at City College studying applied math. She was formerly a staff organizer for CUNY Rising Alliance and the New Deal for CUNY campaign. She also worked as the Deputy Campaign Manager for Assemblymember Marcela Mitaynes.
Pamela Stemberg is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of English at CCNY, Vice Chapter Chair for the PSC-CUNY CCNY Chapter, and an Officer for Part-Time Personnel on the PSC Executive Council. As a City College alumna, she has experienced firsthand the impact of state disinvestment on the CUNY system. She organizes workers and students around the issues of equity and dignity for the CUNY community.
