Colin Powell School Celebrates more than 1,000 in its Class of 2025

By: Colin Powell School

On May 29th, the Colin Powell School celebrated its largest graduating class to date — more than 1,000 students — at a graduation celebration held at the historic United Palace Theater in Washington Heights. The event marked a major milestone for a diverse and dynamic group of leaders committed to service, leadership, and global engagement.

Cristina Jiménez Moreta, nationally recognized activist and co-founder of United We Dream, delivered the keynote address just two days after the release of her new memoir, Dreaming of Home. Drawing from her personal story as an undocumented immigrant and organizer, Jiménez inspired graduates with a message about the transformative power of courage, strategy, and collective action. As a special gift, every graduate received a copy of her book, both a keepsake and a call to action.

Valedictorian Jennifer Zingone, a dedicated public servant and passionate advocate for equity, reflected on the significance of civic leadership in a moment of national and global uncertainty. Her address reminded the audience of the values that define the Colin Powell School community: compassion, resilience, and a commitment to the common good.

The ceremony was a celebration not only of academic achievement, but also of the values and vision that the Colin Powell School instills in its students. With families, faculty, and friends in attendance, the Class of 2025 walked across the stage ready to lead and serve,  in New York City and far beyond. Watch the full ceremony below:
