Q. Is it possible to be a double major?
Yes; in fact, some students within the Department of Anthropology and Interdisciplinary Programs decide to double major in another department such as Black Studies, Sociology or Political Science. Please note that only a minor in Woman and Gender Studies is offered at this time.

Q. I’d like to double major. How do I go about doing that?
If you are considering pursuing a double major, be sure to speak with an advisor in your major as well an advisor in the second department or program so that you understand all the requirements. Be please aware that a maximum of two classes can count toward both majors. To declare your major, please use the iDeclare website.

Q. What should I do if I want to pursue a minor in Anthropology and Interdisciplinary Programs?

Before declaring a minor, please make sure that you speak with an advisor in the department or program so that you understand all the requirements first and foremost. To declare a minor, please use iDeclare. Please note: in most cases, classes counting toward a minor cannot also count toward a major.

Q. How do I enroll in classes?
Students can enroll into courses via the CUNYFirst website.

Q. I’m trying to enroll into a course, but it says I require “departmental permission”. What do I need to do for this?
In most cases, you will need to seek permission from the Director of the program who will then be able to grant you permission to enroll in the class you want. Please be prepared with your inquiries to enroll with your EMPLID and the particular section of the course you wish to enroll into.

In these cases, you must contact the instructor of the course.
