Psychology BS Online

The Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Psychology is intended for students pursuing careers in medicine, nursing, or scientific research. The online program modality is fully asynchronous and requires no in-person meeting time.

The BS Psychology Online program includes coursework leading to a Bachelors of Science (B.S.) degree in Psychology through fully online asynchronous courses. Take classes at your own pace and on your own time. The B.S. degree in Psychology is intended for students pursuing careers in medicine, nursing, or scientific research. BA students can choose from an exceptionally wide range of courses, studying the impact of biology, family, culture, and society on individual development, and covering topics such as neuropsychology, psychotherapy, neuroanatomy, child psychopathology and queer psychology.

 

Students enrolled in the online asynchronous program have equal access to advising and academic, personal and career support provided by the Powell School. The program has Middle States accreditation.

Degree Requirements

To obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, students must complete at least 120 credits which includes an estimated 30 credits in General Education, 12 credits of College Option courses.

Majors typically take a total of 62 credits within the Psychology program. 14 credits are distributed across required courses, 3 credits in Speech, and the remaining 21 credits are distributed across Gateway Requirements (Major Concentrations) and Advanced Courses. Undergraduates must take at least one course in three of the four Major Concentration Areas. All advanced courses use the required 200-level gateway courses as prerequisites. PSY 32100 is either a prerequisite or co-requisite for all 300-level courses and does NOT count toward the advanced courses required. Students must also complete 12 credits in Lab Science courses, and 8 credits in calculus courses.

The remaining credits to fulfill the 120 credits required for CCNY BS in Psychology are free electives.
