Psychology BA/MA

Admission will be a competitive process. The minimum standards are:

• Have completed at least 90 credit hours of Liberal Arts and Sciences (RLA) courses
• Have completed Applied Statistics (PSY 21500 or equivalent) and Experimental Psychology (PSY 32100) with grades of B or better.
• Must have at least a 3.2 GPA in Psychology and overall GPA of 3.0
• Requires a letter of recommendation

To apply, students should request an application form from Professor Robert Melara, Chair of the Department and Director of the BA/MA Program.

Once admitted into the BA/MA program, students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and remain in good standing to progress into the graduate program.

To obtain a accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s in Psychology degree, students must complete approx. total of 130 credits which includes 
an estimated 90 of the Liberal Arts and Sciences (RLA) courses. Students in the BA/MA programs must maintain a major GPA of at least 3.0.

Students in the CASAC BA/MA track complete the sequence of course like shown in the featured courses below. 
The program culminates with PSY V6600 Practicum which is a one-semester internship under licensed supervision.

The combined degree requires typically completion of 63 credits, 32 credits in undergraduate courses and 31 credits in graduate courses.
These courses must be chosen in consultation with a departmental advisor.

For the B.A. portion of the combined degree program, students complete one semester of honors research during their senior year and submit a full literature review in their thesis research area at the end of that year. For the M.A. portion of the combined degree program, students must submit a full empirical thesis, including the literature review, and complete 31 credits of MA coursework in addition to any M.A. level courses that may have been counted toward the undergraduate degree requirements. These classes must include graduate statistics, graduate experimental, a Master’s-level course from the quantitative/biological psychology areas, and a one-semester research seminar.
