Ouafaa Hmaddi

Ouafaa Hmaddi is an assistant professor of Economics and Business at the City College of New York. Her research is dedicated to unraveling and mitigating systemic barriers that hinder marginalized entrepreneurs, encompassing factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, and economic status. Extending across North Africa and the United States, her work focuses on reducing these obstacles and fostering equitable opportunities for all entrepreneurs. By conducting field experiments, Dr. Hmaddi tests interventions aimed at dismantling these barriers, explores the impact of randomization in evaluation systems, and promotes an emancipatory framing of entrepreneurship.
