MPA Students Promote HPV Vaccination for their Capstone Project

Master in Public Administration

The Powell School’s Master in Public Administration’s Capstone course is the culminating experience for graduating MPA students, where theory meets practice, and learning transforms into action. This year’s MPA Capstone focused on a high-impact outreach and education initiative to inform and empower The City College of New York (CCNY) students about Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and the life-saving benefits of the HPV vaccine. Capstone students completed the project under the direction of Distinguished Lecturer Shanelle Matthews.

On Tuesday May 13th, the students hosted a kick-off event at CCNY with a mobile health unit from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, representatives of the Columbia University Irving Medical Center and the presence and support of Powell School faculty, Dr. Dave A Chokshi and Prof. Adriana Espinosa. The kick-off event was followed by the presentation of their Capstone project, in front of current and incoming MPA students, MPA alumni, faculty members, friends and families.
