Norma Fuentes-Mayorga Co-Edits Global Special Issue on Racial Injustice and Resistance in Latin America

By: Colin Powell School

Professor Norma Fuentes-Mayorga has co-edited a special issue of the journal, Social Science, titled Racial Injustice, Violence, and Resistance: New Approaches from Multidimensional Perspectives. Bridging the fields of sociology, criminology, and economics, the issue brings together scholars from nine countries across four continents to examine pressing issues of racial inequality, social injustice, and grassroots resistance in both national and global contexts, with a particular emphasis on Latin America and Brazil.

The publication addresses topics such as forced migration, gendered displacement, and the global resurgence of authoritarianism, while highlighting powerful examples of subaltern resistance and community-based activism. This interdisciplinary collection offers timely insights into the systemic forces shaping inequality today and invites continued dialogue across borders and disciplines.
