Powell School’s Prabal De Joins Youth Summit Panel on Economic Opportunity

Prabal De with panelists at NextGen Roundtable
By: Colin Powell School

Prabal De, Chair of Economics and Business at the Colin Powell School, recently served as a panelist at the NextGen Roundtable: New York City Youth Summit, hosted by Close Up Foundation. The event brought together over 200 students and teachers from across the city to engage with real-world policy issues — from the jobs market to housing costs across the five boroughs.

Professor De joined fellow experts from The New School, the NYC Mayor’s Office of Economic Opportunity, The Legal Aid Society, and the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection for a panel on economic opportunity and public leadership — exactly the kind of civic engagement the Powell School was built to champion.

As a respected economic researcher with a rich body of work focused on topics ranging from Effects of Mandatory Schooling Expansion on Upward Educational Mobility among Women in Türkiye to Drinking during downturn: New evidence from the housing market fluctuations in the United States during the Great Recession, Professor De was able to bring evidence-based, and research-backed perspectives to the discussion.
