Powell School Students Visit PitchBook for a Behind-the-Scenes Look at Private Markets

By: Colin Powell School

Nearly thirty Colin Powell School BBA and Economics students seized the opportunity to visit the Flatiron District corporate offices of PitchBook, the leading data and insights provider covering private capital markets. Hosted by PitchBook’s managing editor, Abby Latour, students engaged with seasoned and early-career PitchBook analysts and journalists regarding their career paths and the private markets news-of-the-day. The event also included a workshop on decoding SEC filings, simulating how analysts and journalists interpret financial disclosures to identify broader market trends and risks.

The sessions were enriched by contributions by Colin Powell School alumni Sami Vukelj ‘19, senior credit reporter, and recruitment coordinator Amreen Nasir ‘24.

Participating senior economics student Kamille Hernandez noted, “It was particularly interesting hearing from the senior Pitchbook reporters regarding how they analyze complex financial information and transform it into research and articles that help investors better understand developments in private markets.”
